Persecución en Egipto: Escuelas, iglesias y orfanatos quemados para borrar todo rastro de presencia cristiana

(Aeronoticias).- La provincia de Minya, con al menos 20 ataques contra las iglesias, escuelas y orfanatos cristianos, es la parte de Egipto, donde los islamistas han golpeado con mayor violencia y brutalidad. «Los islamistas», afirmó un habitante de esta región, «han quemado y destruido todo. Su objetivo era borrar cualquier huella de la presencia cristiana; incluso los orfanatos han sido saqueados y destruidos».

Después de asaltar la Iglesia de San Tawadros el-Shatbi, los extremistas islámicos armados dirigieron su atención ados hogares para niños desfavorecidos, situados cerca de la iglesia parroquial, según afirmaron los habitantes de la zona. Robaron las ofrendas de la iglesia, ropa y los juguetes de los niños antes de incendiar el edificio entero. Shurkri Huzayn, de 40 años de edad, es el guardia del orfanato y creció como huérfano en el orfanato. Fue testigo del ataque salafista. «¿Qué clase de personas son? Incluso los no creyentes no atacarían a un orfanato», señaló.

Los islamistas descargaron especialmente su furia contra todo lo que simboliza el cristianismo y la modernidad, incluyendo los ordenadores. Unos días después de la masacre, el guardia del orfanato dijo que los cristianos coptos escribieron un mensaje en la pared del orfanato, en respuesta a los insultos de los islamistas, que decía: «A pesar de lo que habéis hecho, pedimos a Dios que os perdone» y «Dios existe».

Según un profesor de la Escuela San José, el ataque tendrá un gran impacto para la vida cotidiana los cristianos. «Los maestros», señaló, «no saben cuándo empezará el año escolar.La escuela está abierta para cristianos y musulmanes, y ha educado a cientos de niños de zonas rurales, muchos de los cuales vivían en los dos orfanatos».
