Seg\u00fan informaron fuentes de Paraguay, el hijo del veterano entrenador comunic\u00f3 su deceso en la noche del domingo 3 de marzo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El \u2018negro\u2019 padec\u00eda un c\u00e1ncer estomacal que lo ten\u00eda en el hospital, pero lamentablemente no pudo sobreponerse y en el mundo del f\u00fatbol es un fuerte golpe. Reconocido por su fortaleza y don de mando en la selecci\u00f3n de Uruguay y que jug\u00f3 los mundiales del 62\u2019. 70\u2019 y 74\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Con Pe\u00f1arol gan\u00f3 dos Libertadores \u00a0(1960 y 1961) y una Intercontinental (1961). Con Nacional una Libertadores e Intercontinental en 1971. Adem\u00e1s de defender las camisetas de River Plate, Barcelona de Espa\u00f1a, Defensor de Uruguay y Santiago Morning de Chile.<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Como entrenador hizo grande al Olimpia al hacerlo ganar la Copa Libertadores en 1979 y 1990, adem\u00e1s de una Intercontinental en 1980. Tampoco no se olvida su paso por el Per\u00fa, ya que dirigi\u00f3 en el 2009 al CNI de Iquitos.
