Desde 1987 a 1989 ejerci\u00f3 el cargo de Regidor de la Municipalidad de Lima. Un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s se present\u00f3 por el partido Izquierda Unida para las elecciones presidenciales, ganando en aquel entonces el expresidente Alberto Fujimori.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">Lleg\u00f3 al Senado y, posteriormente, al Congreso.
