El papa Benedicto XVI clausur\u00f3 hoy ante miles de fieles el s\u00ednodo de \u00c1frica reunido desde hace tres semanas en Roma con el llamamiento: \u00ab\u00a1Coraje, \u00c1frica, lev\u00e1ntate!\u00bb.\u00a0 Durante una misa en la bas\u00edlica de San Pedro, el Papa pidi\u00f3 al continente negro que encuentre la valent\u00eda que lleve a la paz, \u00abuna paz que se abra a todos los que tengan buena voluntad para superar diferencias religiosas, \u00e9tnicas, ling\u00fc\u00edsticas y culturales\u00bb, informa la agencia DPA. <\/p>\n

En su documento final, el s\u00ednodo hab\u00eda llamado antes a los africanos a trabajar juntos por el futuro pol\u00edtico y econ\u00f3mico del continente. Las consecuencias negativas del colonialismo y el comercio de esclavos no deber\u00edan servir para justificar la falta de progreso y desarrollo en \u00c1frica, a\u00f1ad\u00eda. Los africanos deben hacer frente por s\u00ed mismos a los retos y crear condiciones dignas. <\/p>\n

Benedicto defendi\u00f3, adem\u00e1s, una \u00abglobalizaci\u00f3n social\u00bb, como ya hizo en su enc\u00edclica \u00abCaritas in veritate\u00bb (El amor en la verdad) publicada en julio. Deben renovarse el progreso y desarrollo para \u00abimplicar a todos los pa\u00edses y no s\u00f3lo a los mejor dotados\u00bb, advirti\u00f3 el Pont\u00edfice a los gobiernos de los pa\u00edses ricos. El m\u00e1ximo representante de la Iglesia cat\u00f3lica abri\u00f3 el s\u00ednodo hace tres semanas instando a no iniciar una era de \u00abnuevo colonialismo\u00bb. <\/p>\n

Alrededor de 200 obispos abordaron durante el encuentro el futuro de \u00c1frica. Los obispos criticaron el s\u00e1bado que los pa\u00edses ricos promuevan el aislamiento de la inmigraci\u00f3n. La pol\u00edtica \u00abrestrictiva\u00bb y las correspondientes leyes sobre migraci\u00f3n en el mundo violan los fundamentos universales y las ense\u00f1anzas de la Iglesia respecto de los derechos humanos, aseguraron. <\/p>\n

En la misa dominical estuvo tambi\u00e9n presente, entre otros, el nuevo Presidente del Consejo Pontificio Justicia y Paz, el arzobispo Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson de Ghana. Seg\u00fan hab\u00eda comunicado el Vaticano el s\u00e1bado, Benedicto nombr\u00f3 a Turkson, quien dirigi\u00f3 este s\u00ednodo en calidad de relator general, para suceder al cardenal Renato Raffaele Martino, que se retir\u00f3 a causa su avanzada edad.
